They use their feathery feet, called cirri, to both feed and breathe. But because they are cemented to the ground beneath them, they have developed the largest penis-to-body-size ratio of the entire animal kingdom, assuring a wide reach of sexual partners. Left alone, gooseneck barnacles can live 20 years or more. However, they are considered a delicacy in some countries, selling for $80 or more per pound.
