The world is big, adjust your thinking accordingly
The Steel Bridge is a through truss, double lift bridge that connects the Rose Quarter and Lloyd District in the east to Old Town Chinatown neighborhood in the west. The lower deck carries railroad and bicycle/pedestrian traffic over the Willamette River and the upper deck carries road traffic and light rail (MAX), making the bridge one of the most multi-modal bridges in the world. The first sign of spring in Portland is the long line of flowering trees along the west side of the Willamette River in Tom McCall Waterfront Park. From here pedestrians and cyclists use the Steel Bridge to connect with the 1.5 mile Vera Katz Eastside Esplanade.
