An accomplished musician, Ansel Adams used photographs to communicate what he felt about the landscape around him. Most of the rest of us snap photos.
The home movies of Ansel and his well-known companions climbing gear-poor at the top of ice-topped mountains were filmed by his wife Virginia, an energetic athlete who was in good enough shape to do what the climbers were doing while lugging heavy equipment.
