The Greek roots of the word photography translate as "writing with light." Welcome to my studio--a place to practice and illuminate good work using writing and photography.

Made in Oregon

Perched above Old Town at the west end of the Burnside Bridge is one of the city's oldest retail landmarks--a neon-and-incandescent-lit outline of the State of Oregon which was permitted in 1940 and has been the icon of White Satin Sugar, White Stag Sportswear and the Made in Oregon store through the years. The white stag was added by the sportswear company in 1959 and became the City's holiday greeting when a red bulb nose was added as decoration.  After years of tussling over ownership and maintenance the City of Portland took possession of the sign in 2010.
