Snubbing the muse
She peeks through the clutter on my desk and whispers her secret in my ear. I ignore her and answer the phone. She folds her arms and raises her voice. I jot myself a reminder and blow her off. She cops an attitude, lays her will on a fleeting thought and disappears. I shrug and go back to work, promising myself to listen next time.
