Baby beavers are called kits and weigh less than a pound when they are born--eight or nine inches long with a 3 1/2 inch long tail. Kits are covered in fur at birth and make little noises like high squeals; they are born with huge front teeth. Monogamous parents are very verbal with their children, demanding discipline; they even spank misbehaving kits.
