The WOW factor--Oregon's Wallowa Mountains

Looming as giants above the high desert on the northeast tip of Oregon, the Wallowa Mountains stand guard . . .

. . . over red barns overflowing with hay bundles and fields in Crayon colors--burnt sienna and raw umber.

Seventeen of the state’s 29 peaks over 9,000 feet are located here separating 50 glacial lakes.


Watchful hikers may see bighorn sheep, mountain goats, elk or mule deer and wander through meadows filled with dazzling wildflowers.
